On a constant mission to make comfortable activewear socially appropriate outside of the studio, we compiled a list of holiday party-ready outfits.
We’ve all grown accustomed to being in our activewear, and if there’s a way to rock it at a New Year’s party, you’d better believe that’s going to happen. It’s surprisingly simple to fly under the fitness fashion radar during the holidays by blending smart textures with seasonal colors.
Ring in the New Year with these five fitness-inspired party looks:
Velvet and jewels
Velvet is joyfully back in style this year, and it is looking so on point in refined jewel color palettes. These high-waisted, plush pants can be styled with a loose-fitting black top for a look that is both comfortable and glamorous.

Metallics and soft texture
Nothing screams holiday cheer like shiny silver-, gold- and rosé-colored clothing. Taking something flashy and pairing it with a soft fleece texture will keep the look from going too over the top. The fleece is also delightfully warm!
Try it: The Cut Bra by Alala, $75; Fleece Layering Leggings by Liz Claiborne, $30
Zips and ties
Little details like added zippers, buttons and ties help make a strong case for wearing activewear in public. A front closure sweater is great to throw on after class, and the side ties make it look like a normal piece to wear at a party. Bonus: The zip pockets on these cool leggings are actually functional!
Try it: Sofia Marble Full Length Tights by Varley, $110; Wrap it Up Eco Jersey Wrap by Alternative, $68
Sparkles and wide fits
What is the single easiest way to pop into a party right from Pilates and have no one question your outfit? A conversation piece like this sequined headband. A loud piece of flair can become a festive point of focus, and an extra-wide leg pant offers a different look than the typical black leggings.
Try it: Studded Turban Headband by ASOS, $33; Seamless L/S Crew by Pure Lime, $45; High Rise Chaturanga Pant by Athleta, $79
Exaggerated designs
A play off the classic hoodie, the hoodie dress can be worn to more casual get-togethers this season, and a cool belt will help pull the look together. This is a strong option for those who like to stay extra toasty.
Try it: Sweatshirt Dress by H&M, $40; Ada Collection Elena Layered Belt by NastyGal, $75
